Fuel Type on an RC Copy After CNG Conversion: What to Compare
Fuel Type on an RC Copy After CNG Conversion: What to Compare
Check fuel-type information after a vehicle conversion, keep endorsement evidence separate, and understand what a retrieved RC can tell you.Begin with the actual vehicle and paperwork
When a vehicle has been converted or modified, the fuel description in a retrieved RC may become an important comparison point. Start with the actual vehicle, the installation or purchase evidence you are entitled to use and the official documents relating to the change. Do not assume that a fuel label in an advertisement is the wording recorded by the transport authority.
Write down the exact text shown in each source. A combined fuel description, a shortened code and an informal phrase used by a seller may not mean the same thing. If you are unsure how a term applies to the vehicle, clarify it through the authority or the relevant approved documentation. Avoid replacing the returned text with your own interpretation in the PDF.
A download cannot record a conversion
Retrieving an RC is different from applying for an alteration or endorsement. GreenTick PDF does not approve fuel conversions, inspect installations or submit a change to VAHAN. If the official record needs updating, follow the process required by the vehicle's registering authority. The appropriate documents and approval requirements depend on the specific change and jurisdiction, so verify those rather than relying on a generic checklist.
Keep the application acknowledgement and any accepted endorsement evidence separately from the private download receipt. A successful payment for a PDF means the retrieval transaction succeeded; it does not mean an alteration application was accepted. A later retrieved copy can help you inspect available information once the record changes, but it cannot make that change itself.
Compare with insurance documents
Check how the relevant vehicle and fuel details appear in your insurance documents, and ask the insurer about any discrepancy or required update. Do not assume that the RC retrieval automatically notifies an insurer. The insurer's policy schedule and communication are their own sources. A convenient vehicle report is not a policy amendment or a guarantee that a particular modification is covered.
Prepare a focused question containing the vehicle identifier, the exact differing description and the documents you have. Share full documents only through the insurer's accepted channel. Keep their response in the vehicle folder. If a policy number or expiry appears in a retrieved vehicle response, compare it with the actual policy before using it as a basis for a coverage decision.
Use the comparison in a purchase discussion
For a used vehicle, ask the seller to explain whether the displayed configuration is original or changed and to provide the corresponding accepted evidence. Compare the physical vehicle with the paperwork rather than relying only on the model name. A familiar model may have several fuel variants, and a short description in a report may omit information you need for the purchase.
Do not treat a matching fuel label as a safety inspection of a fitted system. Condition, installation quality and relevant approvals need their own checks. Similarly, an unexpected label is a question to investigate, not proof by itself that a vehicle is unsafe or unlawfully modified. Record the discrepancy and resolve it before relying on the vehicle or its documents.
Choose a readable reference copy
An RC PDF is useful when you need to keep the available registration information with the rest of the vehicle's documents. Complete Vehicle Details adds a branded one-page summary of the fields returned by the provider, alongside its PDF. The extra summary can make a fuel field easier to compare with other records, but it remains an independent convenience report.
Save both relevant source documents and any authority or insurer communication privately. Use clear dates in filenames so an earlier record does not reappear in a later submission. If a required fuel field is empty or stale in the retrieval, obtain an accepted alternative or clarify the source. Never edit the downloaded copy to imply that an endorsement exists when the underlying record has not been confirmed.

Questions
Can an RC download update a CNG endorsement?
No. Changes to the registration record must use the authority's applicable process.
Does the report inspect a conversion kit?
No. It reports available information and does not inspect the vehicle or installation.
